Jim Clark Rally Marshals
THANK YOU MARSHALS :: THANK YOU MARSHALS
On behalf of all the members of JCR Organising Team, can l offer a huge thank you to all Marshals on the event. You all did an absolutely ‘brilliant’ job over a very busy weekend, and for some of you, who were planning on going home on the Sunday, and who ended up assisting on the Reivers Rally – thank you again for acting well ‘beyond the call of duty’ – it was very much appreciated by all of the team.
As you know, the organising team did have quite a ‘baptism of fire’ on the Saturday of the event, and it has to be said that, the Eccles stage was lost in safety grounds, as the marshal to spectator ratio was deemed not good enough to run the stage safely.
Having said that, l’m sure you will agree that there were many plus points to take on board from the weekend, and when you consider the enormity of the event, most things did go to plan.
Having the marshals facilities based back in Duns again this year has, on the whole, gone down very well according to the feedback l have received from various parties, marshals included.
On that point, if you want to make any constructive points or suggestions on improving the campsite (l know about the toilets and showers – there will be more of them next year) or the hog roast/social evening, in fact any other observation you want to make about the event, then please drop me an e-mail, or give me a call, and l will put your points forward at the events de-brief meeting, which is being held at the end of this month.
May l thank you again, for all your efforts and assistance throughout the rally weekend, and hope that you will join us in 2014 and help to ensure that the Jim Clark Rally remains one of the foremost motorsport events in the UK.
Best regards,
Ian A. Dixon
Chief Marshal.

One very important side of assisting as a marshal on the event is as a radio marshal. All radio crews should be 2 manned, which is a Police request in case one member of the crew needs to go and investigate a possible incident.
Moving onto accommodation. There are numerous B&B’s Guest Houses and local pubs, plus of cause Scottish Youth Hostels, and l suggest for more information, then go onto the Scottish Borders Visitor Information website, which is www.scottishborders.com
The Jim Clark Rally Weekend which includes round three of the MSA British Rally Championship, the Jim Clark National & Historic Rallies, plus on Sunday the Reivers Clubmans Rally – please remember, this is the only event on the GB Mainland that takes place on Closed Public Roads – it’s totally unique and not too be missed!!
